Chinese Imperial Yellow Damask Riding or Travelling Robe CT4

Description

The golden yellow silk damask woven riding robe with evenly spaced roundels of two dragons contesting a flaming pearl amidst lotus scroll, edged in black satin, the horsehoof cuffs lined in blue satin. Very rare robe. This is a "lack lapel robe," breast hem apart, cut out the right side, slightly shorter than the left about a foot to made easy to ride, so called "outing clothing", when not riding, just drop the front garment down and fasten with buttons between clothes.

There is colour prohibition for imperial robe, such as crown prince uses apricot yellow, prince uses golden yellow, and all other official or subordinate king if without award by the Emperor is never allowed to use any yellow robe.
